CDI Community Centers

social business solution to close the digital divide

At the heart of CDI’s innovation is the evolution of the Technology and Civic Engagement Schools to CDI Community Centers. Over the course of 2008 we mapped 57 courses and 78 services that had sprung up organically and were being offered within the CDI network. We formalized the syllabi for 11 courses (including blogging, video editing, hardware and maintenance) and business plans for 30 services (resume building, e-gov, graphic design, assembly and maintenance) to help our schools be more relevant in their communities and have means of being more sustainable.

Through the implementation of these new courses and services, CDI Community Centers are on a clear path to becoming completely self-sustaining micro-enterprises.
